The game American shuffleboard

American Shuffleboard has been around for over 500 years. Americans claim they invented it, but Canadians and Belgians also lay claim to the top spot. Who actually played Shuffleboard first is unknown, but one thing is certain: it's a timeless game! Even amidst all the electronic games, shuffleboard remains popular because of its simplicity.

It's a simple, competitive, and challenging game. You can adjust the difficulty by using different types of shuffleboard powder or by playing on tables of different sizes. Shuffleboard is suitable for both young and old, perfect for playing while enjoying a beer for adults. It's the ideal pub game, a sort of table version of curling. It's more competitive than Dutch shuffleboard because you can really play against each other. Challenge each other!

Slide the puck as far as possible,

but not too far.

Or try to knock off your opponents puck!

Shuffleboard Rules

  • Both players are standing at the same side of the Shuffleboard table.
  • Each player slides one puck to the end of the table, the puck
which is the furthest has the benefit of starting last.
  • You start the game by alternately sliding the puck to the end of the table.
  • The playing field has 3 zones, the further, the more points you get.

Scoring

  • Only the furthest pucks which passed the opponents puck(s), counts. All these pucks are added up.
  • A puck which is over the edge (but still on the table) counts as 4 points. This is called a hanger.
  • The winner of the previous round starts the next round.
  • The first player with 15 points, wins the game!
